Tai Qi is a Chinese exercise that stresses the use of the mind not force.
Its quality is in its stillness and slow movements, which integrate mind
and body. Participants gain strength, flexibility and vitality through
instruction in postures and breathing methods. Students of all fitness
level are encouraged to join.
Tai chi is a gentle, low impact series of postures designed to match deep, natural breath with movement. Each student guides their own pace and resistance, the movements are never forced, and joints are never fully extended or bent, making it adaptable to anyone regardless of fitness level.
Although tai chi is slow and gentle, it addresses the key components of overall fitness — muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and, to a lesser degree, aerobic conditioning. Tai chi can increase balance and proprioception. Tai chi can also improve strength and flexibility in both upper and lower body, as well as in your core, back, and gluts. When practiced regularly, tai chi can be comparable to light resistance training and brisk walking.
